OCN Breastfeeding - Preterm and Multiple Babies

This advanced level Breastfeeding and Infant Nutrition course is designed for Nannies, Maternity Nurses and Health Professionals who wish to develop their knowledge of breastfeeding and gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to support a mother to effectively breastfeed.

Led by our team of experienced Lactation Consultants this course teaches effective positioning and attachment, how to observe and assess a breastfeed, ways to increase milk supply, alternative ways to feed a baby breast milk, refusal to feed and common feeding problems, weaning guide, allergies and postnatal care of the breastfeeding mother.

Course Structure & Assesment
Course Structure & Assessment

Course length: This is a one day attendance based course, after which candidates have 5 weeks to complete the online assessment. This advanced level course supports childcarers and health professionals to support women to breastfeed and overcome challenges. The course includes a variety of learning tools such as real life case studies, videos, presentations, discussions and the opportunity to view a range of equipment to ensure candidates feel confident in supporting a new mother

Post course assessment: After the one day advanced level Breastfeeding Skills & Infant Nutrition course candidates are emailed a study pack along with assessment questions. Candidates are given 5 weeks to complete the course from the start of the course, and are expected to send the completed assessment back to us by email.

Candidates require internet access to download resources and view video clips as well as the use of a computer to complete the course work (tablets and smartphones are not advisable for studying as the display and functionality can be affected).

Assessment: The advanced Breastfeeding Skills & Infant Nutrition course is accredited at level 3 through Open College Network. Candidates will receive a certificate of attendance after the one day course, and on successful completion of the assessment, candidates will receive their results and level 3 qualification through OCN London.

Support: We provide ongoing support to all our learners through telephone/email and are happy to answer any queries candidates may have.

Pre-requisite

To complete the assessment candidates must ensure their computer meets the minimum requirements as refunds cannot be given once enrolled. These requirements include:

  • Internet access and a working email address that we can contact you on and a Word Processing package such as Microsoft
  • Word in order to complete the assessment
  • Up-to-date internet browser such as: internet google/safari/ chrome/firefox etc…
  • Ability to hear audio/video via your computer as our resource files include video clips
  • Use of a computer to complete the course work. Smart phones and tablets are not suitable for completing the assessment as the display and functionality can be affected.
