why sleep habits are important

Normal developmentally appropriate sleep for a baby can involve short naps, night waking, and night feeds, and can often thrive quite nicely on broken up sleep. The concern is usually that their parents are not managing well with disrupted sleep which can then impact the baby and overall family functioning.

You will learn why sleep habits are important for the whole family. We will share current research on why it is important to support sleep habits in babies and young children to improve parental stress and functioning, health, development and growth, learning, and mental health.

Currently there is no set industry ‘qualification’ that qualifies you to be a sleep consultant. This means that after any sleep course, you could technically call yourself a sleep coach / sleep consultant / sleep nanny etc…

The course is intended to add to your current modality and increase your knowledge and ability to help families you are working with to overcome common sleep challenges. This course gives you a strong understanding of sleep science and practical strategies to help families get better sleep. This will be a particular advantage if you are working hands-on with the child and family.

However, the course does not delve into the intricacies of assessing a child and family’s sleep or the many factors that affect a child’s sleep. It also does not focus on troubleshooting complex issues.
