Common Core Skills & Knowledge Training for Ofsted Registration is a key requirement for Nannies registering on the voluntary part of the Ofsted childcare register. Over time, individuals working with children and families such as nannies (as well as other childcare's such as au pairs and teachers) will be required to demonstrate proficiency in the six areas of the Common Core. An a nanny it is important to recognise what these skills are and think about how you use them in your everyday work.
What is the Common Core Skills & Knowledge?
The Common Core Skills & Knowledge sets out the six key skills and knowledge areas required by childcarer's who work regularly with children and young people. The six areas are:
– effective communication and engagement with children
– young people and families
– child and young person development
– safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the child
– supporting transitions
– working within a multi-agency team
– information sharing
How can I demonstrate my knowledge in the Common Core Skills?
As a nanny you will regularly be demonstrating your knowledge in the common core skills in your every day work with children and families. However, it is important that you consider how you put your skills and knowledge to best use.
Consider how you:

Where can I complete training in the Common Core Skills & Knowledge for Ofsted registration?
Babyem provide a range of courses for nannies and other childcare's registering with Ofsted on the Voluntary Part of the Childcare Register. The Common Core Skills & knowledge course takes place on a Saturday on a fortnightly basis, and childcarers receive ongoing support with registering with Ofsted.
