Key Responsibilities

• Creating a secure, loving, and developmentally appropriate environment that provides safe, nurturing care for infants and toddlers, including overnight feeding and holistic care to promote wellbeing.
• Managing all aspects of infant care by meeting daily needs such as feeding, bathing, dressing, sterilising bottles, preparing feeds, and establishing healthy routines for the baby; including identifying colic and reflux during feeding and taking appropriate action to relieve discomfort.
• Encouraging early childhood development and bonding by supporting age-appropriate play, sensory activities, and responsive caregiving that promotes cognitive and emotional growth.
• Promoting emotional and behavioural stability by implementing consistent routines that offer structure, comfort, and predictability, especially during key times like feeding and sleep.
• Strategically ensuring child-centred supervision and protection by safeguarding children in a safe environment, while monitoring for health issues and acting promptly on any concerns.
• Collaborating effectively with multi-agency professionals and carers to support the child’s care plan, attending meetings and contributing to decisions in the best interest of the child.
• Maintaining accurate record keeping by documenting daily care activities, routines, feeding patterns, health concerns, and developmental milestones in line with fostering standards.
• Supporting family contact by preparing children emotionally and practically for visits with birth parents, where possible, in accordance with their individual care plan.
