Experience
I worked full time for this family for 18 months as nanny to their two boys. At the start of my employment, the boys were aged 16 months and 6 years. A typical day would involve taking the older child to school. During these hours I cared for the younger child, engaging him in developmental play and taking him to a range of activities such as swimming, baby yoga and the library or forest school / park. After the school day was over, the remainder of my time would be spent making a meal for the children, engaging them in homework or craft activities and then following tea I sometimes supervised bath time / bed time or we would play games until the parents returned home. Following my recent training as a Maternity Nurse, I have continued to work for the family on a part time basis whilst I await a new role that is more suited to my new skills. My hours are currently focused on the after school time during which I collect the boys from the school or Nursery settings and prepare their meal and settle them in to the evening routines.
This booking took place at the Grandparents' home for a 3 month baby girl. I was responsible for her care during a 4-night visit by the family. I was on duty for 10 hours each night and awoke to feed the baby on demand. This involved preparation of her bottles and formula feed. After the feed, winding and resettling the baby and changing nappies when appropriate. At all times, following the instructions of parents to maintain baby's usual routines, also providing any advice when requested.
I began to work with this family when their son was 4 months old. They booked me as his Nanny for the whole weekend of their wedding and due to the nature of the child's need, I did a course of settling sessions so that he and Mum were both really confident with me. As it was such a special occasion, I wanted everyone to be really comfortable and for the care to be seamless. My responsibilities included all the care of the child during the preparation sessions: preparation of feeds, sterilisation of bottles, early weaning assistance, changing nappies, bathing, dressing and other care needs. During waking hours I focused on play, language and physical development of the child. We also went for outdoor walks. Over the weekend, I also cared for the baby overnight and did all night feeds, winding and re-settling so that he was calm and that parents could enjoy their celebrations.
I worked part time for this family alongside another part time role. Their daughter was aged 2 years at the start of the placement. My duties included age appropriate play such as imaginative role playing, books, playdough, puzzles and taking her to local activities such as Baby Ballet, Library and swimming. During her nap time I completed laundry and meal preparation relating to the child. Other duties included bathing, bedtime routines and cleaning her toys and play area. Due to the family relocating, this role lasted for one year.
I worked for this family on a part time basis as Nanny to their two daughters aged 4 and 5 years. My role involved their care before and after school hours and full time during the school holidays. Due to their age, this involved activities focused around their interests and development, such as craft, board games, park and museum visits, imaginative and small world play. My other duties included child related laundry and meal preparation.
This role involved caring for the family's 1 year old boy as a weekend nanny. He was typically very active and loved to be outdoors, playing football and going to the park. We also did lots of role play, reading books and craft activities. In other areas of responsibility, I prepared milk feeds, cleaned bottles and equipment, making healthy fresh meals and doing child related laundry. I also travelled with the family to care for the child whilst they were at their holiday property.
